Belgium gets overlooked as a “stopover” country, which is a mistake — Bruges alone is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe, and the whole country is small enough to see properly in under a week.
Suggested Route (4–5 Days)
- Days 1–2 — Brussels: Grand Place, the EU quarter, and more chocolate shops than you’ll know what to do with.
- Days 3–4 — Bruges: Canal boat rides, medieval architecture, and the Belfry tower views.
- Day 5 — Ghent: A quieter, less touristy alternative to Bruges with just as much charm.
Visa & Entry Notes
Belgium is part of the Schengen Area, and its central location makes it an easy add-on to a France, Netherlands, or Germany itinerary.
Best Time to Visit
April–September for mild weather; the Christmas markets in December are also worth the cold.
