Portugal has spent the last decade becoming one of Europe’s most-loved destinations, and it earns the hype — two genuinely different cities, a dramatic coastline, and prices that still feel reasonable.
Suggested Route (7–8 Days)
- Days 1–3 — Lisbon: Alfama’s hillside streets, the historic trams, and a day trip to Sintra’s fairytale palaces.
- Days 4–6 — Porto: Port wine cellars across the river in Vila Nova de Gaia, and the Livraria Lello bookshop.
- Days 7–8 — Algarve (optional): Beach time on the southern coast to close out the trip.

Visa & Entry Notes
Portugal is in the Schengen Area — one visa, and it’s an easy add-on to a Spain itinerary given the shared border.
Best Time to Visit
April–June and September–October for the best balance of warm weather and manageable crowds.
