Slovenia Travel Guide: Lake Bled & Ljubljana

slovenia

Slovenia packs an enormous amount of scenery into a country you can drive across in a few hours — alpine lakes, a genuinely lovely capital, and caves and castles that rarely make it onto a typical Europe itinerary.

Suggested Route (5–6 Days)

  • Days 1–2 — Ljubljana: The castle, the riverside old town, and a culture that feels unhurried in the best way.
  • Days 3–4 — Lake Bled: The island church, the castle on the cliff, and a rowboat across one of Europe’s most photographed lakes.
  • Days 5–6 — Lake Bohinj or Postojna Cave: A quieter alpine lake or one of the largest cave systems in Europe.
