Slovenia packs an enormous amount of scenery into a country you can drive across in a few hours — alpine lakes, a genuinely lovely capital, and caves and castles that rarely make it onto a typical Europe itinerary.
Suggested Route (5–6 Days)
- Days 1–2 — Ljubljana: The castle, the riverside old town, and a culture that feels unhurried in the best way.
- Days 3–4 — Lake Bled: The island church, the castle on the cliff, and a rowboat across one of Europe’s most photographed lakes.
- Days 5–6 — Lake Bohinj or Postojna Cave: A quieter alpine lake or one of the largest cave systems in Europe.

Visa & Entry Notes
Slovenia is part of the Schengen Area — one visa, and its location makes it an easy add-on to an Italy, Austria, or Croatia trip.
Best Time to Visit
May–September for the best weather; June especially, before peak summer crowds reach Lake Bled.
